Squadron Ski Trip – Sat 03 Feb 2018

Attention all cadets and parents: 

The Squadron will be going to Cypress Mountain for a fun day of skiing and snowboarding on Saturday 03 February 2018! Lift tickets, rentals, and transportation are all covered by the Sponsoring Committee.

The first 50 cadets to sign up will be registered for the trip. Cadets will need to bring their own lunch or money to buy food at the hill.

The cadets will meet at the Port Coquitlam Legion parking lot (2675 Shaughnessy St) at 8:00 am, with the bus leaving at 8:30 am. The cadets will leave the ski hill at 2:30 pm, returning back at the Legion around 3:30 pm.

Scholarship Exams

Here is the information for power and glider candidates who will be writing the exams on Saturday 13 January 2018.

Timings: exam is 2 hours starting at 0930 hrs and ending at 1130 hrs on Saturday 13 January 2018; building will be open at 0900 hrs, so be on time.

Location: 513 Squadron HQ, Queen’s Park, New Westminster (map below)

Dress: C-2 (jacket, shirt, tie) – make sure you represent 777 Sqn well.

Equipment: Number 2 pencil(s), eraser, E6B or Jeppesen computer (power only).

Transportation: cadets are responsible for their own transportation – we suggest car-pooling.

Other: No food and drink are allowed during the exam.

Attached below is a copy of the application form, as well as a brochure detailing each camp (note that the Basic Aviation Technology Course, Basic Survival Course, and Survival Instructor Course were accidentally left out of the brochure, but will be offered). Note that all applications for National Summer Training Courses are closed.

There will be a briefing on summer courses for the entire Squadron the first night back after our Holiday Break, 10 Jan 2017.

Extreme Air Park – 20 December 2017

777 Neptune RCACS will be going to the Extreme Air Park in Langley on the 20th Dec 2017 from

1830 (drop-off) to 2115 (Pick-up).

Cadets are asked to bring a $5 deposit no later than 13th Dec 2017 to cover some of the costs, and the squadron will cover the rest.

Dress for the event will be appropriate civilian sports attire. The squadron will provide snacks and water.Jackets, bags, or any other items that cadets choose to bring can be left in our designated area: however, the squadron will NOT be responsible for lost or stolen items.

Remembrance Day Parade

This is a mandatory parade for all 777 Neptune Squadron cadets.

Meet in the lobby of the Wilson Centre (2150 Wilson Ave) at 0945 hrs SHARP. Uniform is jacket, shirt, and tie, with parka if issued. If you do not have ALL parts of your uniform, dress is white shirt, black pants, dark shoes/boots and civilian jacket. DO NOT wear only part of your uniform.

Current weather forecast is for 6 degrees with a small chance of light rain.

Parking is available at the Port Coquitlam West Coast Express parking lot across the street, but will be at a premium – we suggest car-pooling or using public transit if possible.

Squadron will form up at 1000 hrs on Kelly Avenue (to the south of the Wilson Centre), and the parade will march off at 1020 hrs.

Dismissal will be from the Royal Canadian Legion on Shaughnessy St, at the end of the parade (generally around 1200 hrs).

Senior cadets in the Silent Guard need to be at the Cenotaph at 0830 hrs. 

Senior cadets in the Legion Colour Party need to be at the Wilson Centre at 0900 hrs.

It is time to submit your applications for the following courses:

International Air Cadet Exchange
Advanced Aerospace Course
Advanced Aviation Technology Course (Aircraft Maintenance)
Advanced Aviation Technology Course (Airport Operations)

All applicants for any of the above need to submit the following documents by 22 Nov 17:

1) a cover letter introducing yourself to the selection committee
2) a simple resume
3) a copy of your school report card for 2016/2017 (if you are semestered, we need both semester final report cards)

The website also has outlines of what to include in the cover letter and resume.

It is vital to get these forms in ASAP. If going on a scholarship course is a priority, it can easily be done.

Be sure you get into your school’s office right away for the transcript.

Ground School Tower Tour

For ground school cadets only: we have our airport tour at Pitt Meadows airport Sat 04 Nov 2017 from 1000 hrs to 1400 hrs . Meet inside the main terminal building. The tour will include visiting the control tower and Airspace Maintenance, as well as some hangar time. Bring a lunch and dress warmly as we will be outside most of the time.
