Canadian Cadet Organization's Response to COVID-19

With the increasing concerns about COVID-19, our national headquarters has issued a new message outlining the measures that are being taken to ensure the safety and welfare of cadets, staff, volunteers and their families.

The full CANCDTGEN 010-20 (Canadian Cadet Organizations General Message) can be found under Policy > CANCDTGENs of the CCO Portal. You must first create an account to view the message.

To summarize:

  • Those that are not feeling well or are displaying symptoms of such as cough and fever should take time to recover before returning to cadets. Their absence will be recorded as excused. In addition to informing their flight commanders or activity leader, cadets should report their absence using this form.

  • It is too early to tell if there will be an impact on summer training and summer international exchanges. The Natl CJCR Sp Gp is working on a variety of contingency plans in response to these concerns. However, as of 12 March, 2020 no additional offers of participation or offers of employment at CTCs/CFTCs will be actioned until after 30 April, 2020.

  • A review of all activities through to 30 April 2020 will be conducted. The following cadet activities are to be postponed, rescheduled or cancelled:

    • International travel;

    • Domestic travel;

    • Previously approved CAF Familiarization activities;

    • Army Cadet pre-para training;

    • Regional directed music activities;

    • Stage 3 Provincial/Territorial Marksmanship Championship activities will be conducted remotely (e.g. mail-in shoot, electronic scoring, etc.),

    • Participation in League Career Expo activities or in Annual General Meetings (AGM);

    • CIC Training Courses previously approved

    • FTX;

    • overnight activities; and

    • Nautical Training Sites, Cadet Expedition Sites and Cadet Flying Sites (with the exception of select Air Ops Force generation activities).
